British Fantasy Award Shortlist

Unfortunately, it didn’t involve me so I’ll have to be content with my two longlistings, which I am by the way! For a debut book I certainly can’t expect any more than that! ;0)

It’s interesting to note however that of the three books on the shortlist that I’ve actually read, I hugely enjoyed two (Mike Carey’s and Scott Lynch’s, which I’m suspect will be the eventual winner; there’s a book with inexorable momentum if ever I saw one) and the other evoked just a “meh” from me for almost ever aspect except the prose itself which was certainly above average. Guess that just goes to show how opinions differ, if any more examples from the Fantasy world were needed on that point!
