Mmm, shiny…

So it seems to me I have these shiny ARCs of The Ragged Man that just turned up in the post, but since I’m checking page proofs I really only need one file copy for my shelf…

Anyone interested?

in case you’re curious, it’s 600 pages long, the main characters arrive at the battle ground for the final scene 100 pages before the end, it’s probably got the highest body-count of any book in the series (including, most likely, Dusk Watchman) and has more daemons than you can shake a stick at. Well, twice anyway, they don’t like sticks.

We have major characters who don’t make it to book 5, murder, assassination, a special forces assault, a city siege, pitched battles, the dead, the undead, the very-soon-to-be-dead, romance, tragedy and knowing me, a few nob jokes too.

In fact, the only thing it doesn’t have is ninjas. But it has harlequins instead, and ladies who smoke cigars. So really, that’s at least a score draw there.

How can you get this wonder you might ask? Well simple reply to the forum thread, drop me an email, say so on livejournal, or any other way you can think of to contact me that doesn’t require a restraining order, and as long as I can get hold of your email to get your address afterwards, you’re in with a chance. Maybe even two if I can weasel an ARC out of Pyr too!

  1. Sounds amazing and I cannot wait

Wow the book sounds amazing, and I can’t wait for it to be released. I have read all of the books so far and I read Grave thief a long time ago and the suspense has been a killer.
And of course it would be grouse if i could win a copy of ‘The Ragged Man’

    Keep up the amazing work.

  5. Ooooh shiny! Might be too late, but interested? Deffo. :) Also, well done, you! Grats on the new book.

Oh, and would you mind telling that Devereux chap (who seems to be missing in action) we’ve dismantled his cameras? They finally found them. Just in case he’s confused what with all the white noise on his screens. Thanks. ;p

    1. Nope, not too late – publication isn’t till august so I thought I’d leave it running for a week or so for forum members etc to notice and sign up!

As for Dave, he’s just surfaced after months of absence, but claims he’s been doing things that would be approved of…

  7. Yes, please.

I would love this copy, too. I have no well-constructed reasons why, I will not save the world with this book, I won’t use it to kill all the morons (although I should probably try), I just want to read a good story from a well-built world, I want to say my friends “in your faces, dudes” and I want it to be the jewel of my fantasy shelf. I’m just greedy. And I don’t want to wait another few years, until they translate it into Czech. Also, will it be a signed copy? Would be probably (definitely by me) much appreciated.
And what kind of a joke is a nob joke? Is it a good one? Can’t find the good Czech term for it.

;0) Not sure I should be explaining nob jokes in too much detail… suffice to say, jokes that involve refernce to men’s ‘bits’

  9. I kind of have a thing for shiny things…

Wow. ARC time already? This has me ridiculously excited!! I probably haven’t looked forward to something this much since… well a few days ago for the Lost finale. Anywho, I’d love to get a read of the book as soon as I physically can… even if that means waiting for the release.

Love the series, and can’t wait to see what happens next!

    Best Regards,

  15. Isak

It’s me…the jackass in New Jersey,USA. The only thing I really want is for you to figure out a way to bring back Isak. It is fiction after all. Anything can happen. It was a sad day, even though we all knew he was going that way. I for one would love a resurection of sorts. I have yet to read the Ragged Man…but just ordered it from the UK. Couldn’t wait for the US release…Ron Malcolm
