My Fame Knows No Limits!

I had thought I was pretty obscure in the world of fantasy writers, but maybe that isn’t in fact the case… Mr Google Alerts has just sent me a link which intrigued me and on Wikipedia I find – in an article about Super Bock beer of all things – I’ve been quoted thusly:

"On one such trip to Portugal, author Tom Lloyd commented "This is a truly heroic beer, that does justice to a truly heroic nation"

Seriously? Given I’ve never actually been to Portugal, this strikes me as unlikely… I’ve been to a Portuguese dependency, Porto Santo; that’s where I proposed to my wife, but she doesn’t remember me expounding on the qualities of the beers there, just not shutting up about the fact that quality espresso could be bought for less than one Euro! I have, however, been to Nando’s a few times in my life, mainly while at Uni, so I can certainly say I like the beer, but the quote sounds rather more like something Joe Abercrombie would say!

But, does it saw something about my shameless media-whore nature that I’m oddly pleased about being randomly (mis)quoted on Wikipedia like this?

  1. 12.30 on a weekday? yeah, that’s annoying, though less Joe’s fault and more publicity’s I’d assume. Presumably they hoped enough people would come in their lunch break?

I like the random quotes idea though. Not that I’M ENCOURAGING PEOPLE TO DO JUST THAT of course, that wouldn’t be very responsible…
