In my excitement about publication of Ragged Man in August, I managed to completely forget that June saw another first for me! The French edition of Stormcaller came out a month ago today, until the name – ISAK – LE BLANC-REGARD, which I believe hints towards a certain albino warrior, so I’m happy enough with that! ;0)
Anyways, please do go check it out if you’re a lover of all things French, I’m told the translator is absolutely first rate and I’m pretty sure his English is better than mine. They’ve used the Larry Rostant artwork I love so much which I’m pleased about – the French frequently come up with brilliant covers, such as the Lies of Locke Lamora artwork that put to shame a very poorly conceived UK one in my opinion, so I’m glad they agree Larry’s is great and difficult to top. You can’t believe how much I’m looking forward to all five of his covers sitting on my shelf!
With the publication of Ragged Man only next month now, I will of course be a nervous wreck while I wait for reviews. Doesn’t matter what I think of the book and how my editor reacted to it, I’m still stupidly stressed about the reaction it’ll get. Sigh.
Checked
Not really bad cover, but I still admire Raymond Swanland’s cover, on czech version, the most. To be honest, the title and the cover was the thing that caught my first (and very important) attention. That, kids, is how i met your uncle Isak. ;-)
About the stress: yeah, this is a basic problem of anyone, who’s creating something. Few good opinions isn’t enough, you want everyone to like it.

Re: Checked
I love the Swanland covers too actually, don’t tend to like the really obviously fantasy covers most of the time, but when they’re well done it’s great. A mate and I have been trying to work out which one of his they’ll use for the next book, since they reuse old ones rather than commissioning new work which is too expensive for a small publisher.
Re: Checked
The covers are an important part of any book you choose to envelope yourself into. It is a commitment after all. I never do pick a series based on the artwork alone though. It does tend to get it off the shelf, and into my hands though.

Well not to insult your translating abilities, but “Le Blanc Regard”, is translated into “The white Eye” and as for the book I’m looking forward to getting both the The Ragged Man, and Isak Le blanc Regard. Now if you could just get the series published in spanish I’d be even happier.
Not my translation, it’s the publisher’s! But I think Isak the White-Eye is what they were going for. No news on a Spanish deal I’m afraid, a fair bit of talk from both Spain and Portugal but no money…

Where is it??
It’s been over an hour already…What’s with the damned postal system??? I even registered here hoping for special treatment. Damn!!!
Re: Where is it??
where is what? the book that’s not released for another few weeks?
Re: Where is it??
I suppose that would mean there is a crooked dealer in the UK…..His site said he had more than 10 available. You would think all businessmen were honest….LOL. I guess he should have listed it as a pre-order status. I guess I still have to wait. I’ll still have it before the US release….That will have to do. Thanks for the update…. Ron
Re: Where is it??
Yeah, probably more lazy than crooked – just saying he’s going to get in more than ten copies as a default for their stock list. What’s the deaer’s name? Always good to work out who it is and keep an eye out for them!
Re: Where is it??
AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! It doesn’t say it’s a pre-order until you make payment!!!!!! Quite alright, like I said….I’ll still have read it pre US release. Always good to do at least something first.
Good Luck with the new castle. May they always grow larger and warmer…Ron

Re: The ordered book…..
The bookshop you’ve bought it off haven’t listed it properly – the book isn’t published yet so they shouldn’t be shipping/have received copies yet. My own free copies arrived yesterday but unless they’re an established bookshop I assume they’ll not be sent their stock until the 19th, the official publication date
Re: The ordered book…..
I’m good. I have to learn patience….So, you got yours huh? Did you read it?
Re: The ordered book…..
Well, no, but I’ve read it a couple of times in the last few months so that’s probably understandable!
Re: The ordered book…..
OK. Don’t tell me how it ends…..I want to read it myself. Wish I was up for the shiny event…
