Never a good idea right? Right. So how about responding to internet reviews? Now you’re really coming out with the crazy talk, but the very first review on Amazon for Twilight Herald was, well, bewildering… Now whether or not the guy deserves a kick in the crotch for giving it two stars without much apparent reason is down to personal choice, I think you all know my willingness to suggest such a thing in most situations, I have a bit of a problem with the comments the guy’s written. I would say review normally, but it’s not a review, it’s just a general rant.
Twilight Herald, for those people who haven’t read it, is set in an alternate world and is no 2 out of a series of 5. Our friend believes that it’s lack of a happy ending to leave him all warm and fuzzy inside has nothing to do with the fact that it’s not even the middle book in a series and everything working out fine by this point would render the next three books a little pointless.
Instead he mainly blames Maggie Thatcher.
Honestly, see for yourself.
As for the vampires thing, my publisher told me not to include them but I couldn’t be arsed to rewrite the plot to cut the vampires out. All my fault It was Neil Kinnock’s fault.
I’ve not been told to include vampires either. Did I miss a memo, or am I now covering for your unplanned vampires by not having them added?
I think we should be told.

But…must…have…vampires…lol.
Just remember that reviews are one person’s view and not the masses. I’m sure that you’re doing just fine with everything and the person who thinks otherwise can go away. That’s putting it nicely. Take care, Tom!
Yeah, it’s too bizarre a comment to stress about, even for me and I can get worked up at pretty much anything concerning my books unfortunately! This one just made me laugh though!

If you’re going to get a bad review, it’s best coming from someone who’s patently an idiot or so far off the beaten track he’s lost himself in the forest.

The guy’s head is in an odd place
Really, i think the guy is just against vampires or has a love hate relationship with the idea. In my opinion the way vampires are portrayed in your books is rather novel and intriguing especially the bit about how the gods curse made them care. it was a stroke of genius for you to make the gods so clever but then i am really looking forward finding out why Aryn Bwr turned against them. Keep writing i’m on tenterhooks!!!!

Haha! what’s up with that guy? He can barely spell and you use proper puncuation. Don’t let him both you.
Nah, he doesn’t bother me. The long rants on the Westeros forums etc about how spectacularly dire I am are a bit of a kick in the crotch however, but I guess I’m just going to have to ignore it. The really over-the-top ones sound like internet nerds trying to act like the big man, and the rest are just fair enough because not everyone is going to like the book! Considering the classics that I just can’t bring myself to finish, as long as I’m selling books and getting emails from fans I’m happy! I think the fact that Joe and Scott were both deliberately subverting the genre hasn’t done me any favours but that’s life…
