From Brent Weeks’ Babel Clash on the Borders blog – which I’ve only just read… This made me laugh.

Snerk!
Got his new one and your two on my pile to read … Think I know which ones I’ll be attempting first :)
That’s be Joe’s… sigh. It’s on my pile too!
Heh – no, actually you’re wrong. Started on Stormcaller a while back but stressful rl intervened and I stopped reading altogether for a lot of months. So Stormcaller has a bookmark in it and will be the next book restarted. Then it’ll be Hammer of God and then not sure after that. (Trying to finish one book and then read a completely new one and alternate like that. My to read pile built up during the summer when I was ill and editors choices from the book club got sent out by default…So that’s how joe et al ended up on to read pile – more by default than by design.
I like Joe’s universe but the ending to his trilogy was so … downbeat that I will need to be less stressed to dip back into there. I have Donaldson’s Runes of the Earth started since sometime in 2007 but I have to be way relaxed to dip into that universe – fabulous reads that his books are, they’re not lighthearted trips…
Just read a Robin Hobb…
Well yes, I was wondering if you were going to try Donaldson to cheer yourself up from Joe’s!?!
I mentioned to Joe that I wouldn’t have done the ending like that, that I really wanted Glotka to have the last laugh with a bottle of poison or something. I think his rough response was ‘well nyah nyah nyah, bugger off and write your own book!’ ;0)
Probably best you restart Stormcaller then, not as complicated as some I’ve written but the reminder would probably be useful! Glad to hear it’s on the reread pile!
