ThinkGeek

Well, won’t be buying anything more from these guys. UPS delivery man just arrived on my doorstep demanding £18 in cash to hand over my parcel – having already paid $22 for delivery I decided that was a bit too much. No idea if I’ll ever get a refund for what I have paid but I’m buggered if I’m paying more for delivery than the parcel cost in the first place!

    1. Yeah, weird and not something I’ve seen before here – considering this isn’t the first time I’ve bought something from the US, I was pretty pissed off about it, $40 worth of goods and $50 shipping and tax…

      1. Sounds very strange to me! They shouldn’t do that, you’re best of writing a letter to them and state that you “paid under protest”. That is the key phrase to you getting any money back from them. Odd situation, what was the payment for? His effort of carrying the parcel to your door?

        1. Well, I didn’t pay it so they’re returning the package and thinkgeek now say they’re going to charge me for posting it back to them as well! The payment was for UK customs duty (charged on the full amount I paid too, so I’m paying for duty on the shipping costs… or rather I refused to) but it’s cheeky how they think laziness about telling people the costs is better than maybe losing the sale because they charge so much.
