This week, I shall be mostly thinking about…

Reasonable force… Turns out the guy who was stabbed by a homeowner was already on bail for burglary, which will surprise no one I suspect. Now I don’t often agree with American attitudes towards weapons in the home, but I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t be so complicated there if you killed one of the four masked men who’d just broken into your house.

  1. Yeah, Texas is not representative (thank God). It’s more common, probably! You can kind of take Texas law, dial back the “redneck crazy” three notches, and that’s what American law on average looks like.

  3. I agree with , it depends. In California, for instance, reasonable force would cover that situation because of the four vs one scenario but it’s not a sure bet if you kill an intruder in your home. I do believe people have gone to jail for killing intruders when the jury was led to believe there were alternate ways the home owner could’ve gotten the burglar out of their house.

  5. Yeah, it doesn’t work. For one, he has a LiveJournal icon where he is hugging a kitten. For second, if he doesn’t look like a grandpa, he looks like the guy who tells you that while you might find a lot of fish in those waters, you’ll also find a storm stronger than you can possibly imagine.

None of these images match the idea of a crazed loner who loves knives and their application to forest critters.
